Interview with Penint Design Team at Tuesday 19th of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? PT: Autumn leaves. Autumn is a transition between summer's sultry, hot weather and winter's freezing cold. So that we wanted to carry the relaxing and calming effect of autumn to a space like bedroom. We thought that it would be relaxing with spaces' autumn colors for having happier sleeps. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? PT: Majority of people think that bedroom is just for sleeping, dressing and putting on make up. However, we wanted to make bedroom as a living space for providing maximum comfort. Why bedroom couldn't be for drinking coffee while reading your book? Or watching TV as you're lying? FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? PT: With this award winning design we believe that we're going to approach our designs to bigger audience. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? PT: It took one week to design this project. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? PT: No, it is not produced or used by another company yet. But we're planning to bring it into action in the future. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? PT: The design wasn't made for a specific client, we made this to improve our own design portfolio and positive comments made us to join this competition. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? PT: No there isn't any influence by other designers but the ceramics behind the bed headboard are already produced by a ceramic company called "Mutina". FS: Who is the target customer for his design? PT: We didn't plan to have a target customer for this design but especially just married young couples' are interested in it. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? PT: This design aparts from the others with its' modernization unlike the traditional Turkish bedrooms and providing the user more than a bedroom. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? PT: While searching for a design name, we got inspired from our autumn theme and decided to name it as 'Leaves'. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? PT: Using computer aided design tools such as Autocad, 3dsmax Design, Vray, Corona, Adobe Photoshop are important for us to have realistic visuals in our designs. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? PT: We think that usage of unusual materials in bedroom such as wood, concrete, textile and glass makes the design more unique. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? PT: We didn't collaborate with anybody while doing this design, we did every process in our own design team. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? PT: While designing process, we took advantage of computer programmes. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? PT: First we heard about the A' Design Award via the e-mail that calls us to package design category we got from A' Design Award members. But as we are interior designers we would like to get involved in a competition from interior design category. 'Leaves' bedroom was one of our favorite designs we would like to join with it. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? PT: First of all, while designing this bedroom we considered the basic design rules. We have searched for the harmony of colorsl, forms and textures.
