Interview with Raynon Chiu at Thursday 21st of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RC: The sample room is adopted in Chinese style, with three main colors black, white, and yulan. The whole environment is filled with antique atmosphere, collocated with black and white marble and a brass ornament, which make the room a sense of the sedate. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RC: The design for the bathroom shows the perfect combination of the classical and modern, additionally, the wooden floor and cyan marble look elegant and fashionable, as well practical, which not only makes the space better but also creates the better atmosphere. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RC: We will get successful experience from this award winning design. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? RC: 15days FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? RC: This design commissioned. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? RC: It's used by another company. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? RC: The project is interesting for me. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? RC: N/A FS: Who is the target customer for his design? RC: People who want to buy house there. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? RC: The Chinese-style design is perfectly integrated with some modern element. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? RC: Since the surrounding environment is full of beautiful plants and flowers, so we called it as "city Garden" sampe room. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? RC: Sketch, CAD FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? RC: The collection of colors, such as, the black, white, wood and yulan makes great contrast, which is brilliant but not exaggerative and shows the host’s elegant taste different from the others. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? RC: N/A FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? RC: Sketch CAD FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? RC: N/A FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? RC: I just want to let more people notice Chinese-style project and get some feedback from them. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? RC: N/a
