Interview with Sameh Farid at Saturday 18th of June 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SF: The building is located close to one of the wonders of the world which is the Great pyramids, so the building was designed to be dismantling to them and transition of civilized and Extension to them. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SF: Beside The Building is a reflection of the historical area surrounding it and Extension to them,Green architecture has been applied in the building,One of the most important features of the building is all the spaces reached by lighting and natural ventilation by adding a courtyard in the middle of the building. Beside irregular use of glass curtain walls in facades led to the refraction of the sun's rays and enter the desired lighting inside the building. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SF: One week on schematic design and 2 monthes in design development FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SF: Its unpublished result Architectural Competition in Cairo,Egypt FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? SF: When start to study the location and the Surrounding history of site, I found that The building is located close to one of the wonders of the world which is the Great pyramids, And what I directly face that the greatness of the pyramids overwhelm on any different inspire when designing the building, it was hard to ignore them so I began to think something different which is how to use triangles to get blocks reflect the idea required which is building helps in transition of civilized and act as Extension of the architecture of the pyramids.
