Interview with Fabrizio Constanza at Friday 1st of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
FC: The work combines in a visual composition the relation between the intangible creative process represented by the organic legs and our tangible products.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
FC: the work explores the dynamic system of creating that is fluid, and is influenced by our emotions. yet the products that result from the creative process are rigid. It makes me think that we are at a moment on human history that to protect and ensure our survival we most learn to create flexible solutions or products.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
FC: I will like to exhibited in many other public venues, eventually finding a home in a public space.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
FC: This is Art. it is hard to measure time in a a project like this.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
FC: I pursued as inspiration. Most work I do are commissioned. Each year while I work on the commissioned jobs I get inspired in creating my own work.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
FC: Art can not be lease. I can definitely sale it or donated to the right institution.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
FC: This piece is part of my private work. This kind of work differs from our modern drive force that money has become. These kind of work is pure joy of freedom

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
FC: My good friend and Designer Greg Jacobs, was in charge of producing this work. He implemented some changes to ensure the stability of the work.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
FC: new age corporations. That is companies that understand and invest on people and comunity.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
FC: This is a two modules composition that from a relation.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
FC: El Soporte del Cubo mean " the support of the Cube" . the name helps the spectator to focus on whats most important the legs not the cube. our modern society is losing site of what is important.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
FC: sketching, managing production team, solving manufacturing, shipping and installation issues.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
FC: the visual unification of and intangible aspect that is our imagination and creativity with a tangible object.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
FC: yes, the production took place on a specialized race car manufacturing company based in Denver Colorado. Ignite Performance

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
FC: very important, the simplicity of the design required perfection on bends, cuts, assembly. we used CNC routers, high torque tube benders, and master builders to create a perfect cubed and balanced in the legs.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
FC: No analitics, this is pure feelings and design process

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
FC: I was working in guatemala while arranging production in Denver Colorado. Modern communications help, yet taking redesign decisions based on manufacturing information can be tricky.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
FC: This work of Art was created to be exhibited in public spaces. I believe in public Art. Adesign Award is a great platform to spread Art and design to the general public.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
FC: It reminds me that life is more than counting dollars. Life is about human emotions.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
FC: Enjoy El soporte del cubo

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
