Interview with Cheng-Chen Chen at Wednesday 27th of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? CC: primitive FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? CC: primitive FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? CC: 2 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? CC: Integration of catering culture and interior design. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? CC: In order to shorten the distance with guests, the design breaks the traditional image of Japanese sushi bar. No more refrigerator on the counter, a large French window is installed at the entrance to unveil the mysterious of Japanese cuisine. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? CC: Without magnified lines and intensified colors, the wall is decorated with graphs and lines, which creates the ambiance at coastal reef. The whole design makes the guests enjoy the original taste of food. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? CC: The design of wooden base and a clear gray quartz walls.
