Interview with dazhaus at Tuesday 10th of March 2015

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
DD: Architecture

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
DD: Scale and proportion

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
DD: Export to Switzerland.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
DD: 5 month, we need to go a lot of times to the factory for making changes for the prototype.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
DD: The free time at work gave us the economic crisis that is happening Spain (which is affecting much to the field of architecture and interior design) decided to devote this time to that dream of designing furniture that we had ever had

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
DD: We dont have a plan but we prefer

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
DD: Marketing for our architecture

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
DD: No

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
DD: Furniture dealers

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
DD: It is a concept of furniture that does not exist.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
DD: The furniture is the 1/100 scale of a building, part of a collection of furniture that all scales are based on things inspired by the construction.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
DD: Starting with pen and paper, veneer, fire to measure heat gets the material, autocad, prototypes (laser, bending, welding, sanding)

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
DD: Distinctive

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
DD: People from different factories

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
DD: The design has a technological point more in terms of design, we could say that in this regard is the trend Hi-tech

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
DD: In dazhaus projects there is always based on the number phi study and the golden section that accompanies us throughout our work. To never lose harmony with nature. Beside this the study of building structures led to this design.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
DD: Meticulous be with proportions that give harmony to both design and that would be consistent with the idea of a building scale

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
DD: When I was born the studio we were in a very bad economic times in Spain and as a result we were able to devote much time to this dream. A process for six months to a year dedication . And now we thought it was time to bring out this work of 2012 and try to have repercussions abroad.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
DD: As I mentioned , we were a way of being unable to make architecture to continue to evolve as an artist creating a design that is useful , without losing requiring a contest like this that is design and a deep base in architectural training.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
DD: Just say that this work is the reward for a few years traveling around the world , training in architecture, and an appreciation for the furniture and fine arts.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
