Interview with Raynon Chiu at Thursday 21st of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
RC: Using the ancient principle of Chinese culture, the Tangquan Tea Club uses traditional Chinese materials and ancient architecture styles and techniques to create a space owning the Zen soul, which show the perfect integration of the nature and human.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
RC: Rough green slate and natural wood floors make a direct relation with the exterior surroundings and create an environment of relaxation and simplicity.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
RC: 20days

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
RC: It's ued by another company.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
RC: I think this design full of challenge, i like it .

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
RC: N/A

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
RC: People who want to be relaxed.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
RC: The tea Club was separated into hemi-transparent space by enormous wooden grids, which will takes a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
RC: The name is adopted according to the client's need.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
RC: Sketch, CAD

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
RC: One of the tea rooms on the first floor orienting towards the east whose wall was casted with floor-to-ceiling wooden windows. The lake scenery outside becomes a part of the tea room. This beauty looks just as though a super large dimensional ink painting. You can enjoy the lake views out of the windows in the meantime appreciating tea.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
RC: N/A

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
RC: It mainly take advantage of the sense of space, and bring the beauty of nature into the interior design.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
RC: N/A

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
RC: Yes, some problems faced with the geography conditions.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
RC: N/A
