Interview with Ayhan Güneri at Friday 18th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AG: The main principle of my design that reflect dynamism and technology. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AG: The aim is that comfortable sitting comfort and long duration sitting with different sitting position and foot rest option. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AG: We hope that getting commercial success as well as success in competition. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AG: Idea, inspiration and process of design detailing in 6 months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AG: Solve the problems of bar chair that I always sitting in different spaces. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AG: If the request comes from procuders, we are open to all suggestions to realize the project. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AG: It is just my inspiration. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AG: Target customer who want to spent time in dynamic spaces. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AG: Rise and fall with foot control and provide opportunity of foot rest in different positions for the first time. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AG: Consist of bar chair and bicycle and it symbolizes alteration. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AG: Sketches and computer programs. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AG: Bicycle saddle, bicycle pedal and stand on upturned handlebar. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AG: We collaborate with technicians that we get them opinions about producibility of the design without our knowledge. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? AG: We need high aluminium injection technology to realize the Project. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? AG: Individual observation. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AG: It is the first industrial design and it is an important challenge for us. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AG: We received advice that take part in competition, after share sketches with various designers. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AG: We learned, how industrial design should be submitted and it is a significant develeopment for us. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? AG: Thank you for everything.
