Interview with A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero at Thursday 12th of April 2012 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AA: Tesla magnetic experiments and theories. This is a magnetic-floating lamp. The lamp floats thanks to the attractive power of two magnets. The lamp shape comes from the desire to have the best performance about lightness and distance between the two magnets. Every details is drown to emphatize the floating effect without loosing the first function as a lamp. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AA: Every details is drawn to emphatize the floating effect without loosing the first function as a lamp. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AA: Sell the lamp around the world. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AA: 2 years FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AA: this design comes from a free inspiration concept FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AA: We are open to sell or lease the production rights (dipends on the offers) but also ready to make it by ourself. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AA: the name of the lamp "TESLIGHT" is inspirated by NiKola Tesla. Tesla is also the SI derived unit of magnetic flux density. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AA: We use 3d modeling softwere as Rhino to design the model but also to prepare it for the CNC prototypation. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AA: The floating magnetic system.
