Interview with Arvin Maleki at Tuesday 7th of May 2024

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AM: Auramithra is inspired by the potent synergy of ancient myths and contemporary vitality, combining the mystic elements of "Aura" (spirit) and "Mithra" (sun deity) to manifest a design that empowers and revitalizes. This design aims to connect consumers with the inner energy and radiance associated with these ancient symbols through a modern aesthetic lens.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AM: The focus was on creating a packaging that not only serves its primary function but also tells a compelling story. I aimed to evoke a deep emotional response that aligns with the themes of energy and renewal inherent in the product's branding.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AM: We plan to expand its reach by adapting the design to a range of related products, enhancing brand recognition and exploring new markets that value both sustainability and rich narrative in product packaging.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AM: The development of the Auramithra design spanned over a year, involving rigorous research and iterative design processes to perfect the visual and tactile elements.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AM: Auramithra was a self-initiated project, born from my fascination with blending historical elements with modern design techniques to create meaningful consumer products.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AM: The design is currently in production, and we are collaborating with eco-conscious brands to bring this innovative packaging to market, reflecting both aesthetic appeal and environmental responsibility.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AM: My passion for creating designs that are not only visually appealing but also environmentally sustainable and deeply rooted in cultural narratives inspired me to develop Auramithra.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AM: While the concept and execution are original, the process was enriched by studying various successful packaging designs that effectively merged tradition with innovation.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AM: The target customer is the environmentally aware and culturally astute consumer who appreciates both the aesthetic and functional aspects of product packaging.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AM: Auramithra distinguishes itself through its use of ancient symbolism intertwined with a minimalist, modern design that communicates power and mystique effectively.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AM: The name "Auramithra" combines "Aura," representing spirit or breeze, and "Mithra," the deity of the sun, to symbolize the product’s essence of internal energy and illumination.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AM: The project utilized state-of-the-art graphic design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, to render intricate designs and vibrant colors accurately.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AM: The unique aspect of Auramithra lies in its tactile experience—textured symbols and dynamic colors create an engaging, multisensory interaction with the packaging.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
AM: This project was a collaborative effort involving graphic designers, materials scientists, and environmental consultants to ensure the packaging was both beautiful and sustainable.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
AM: Advanced printing technologies and eco-friendly materials were crucial in realizing the vibrant and tactile quality of the packaging while adhering to sustainability standards.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AM: Extensive research into ancient mythology, modern design trends, and consumer psychology was conducted, guiding the creative process to ensure the packaging resonates on multiple levels.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AM: Balancing minimalism with rich symbolic content was challenging, as was ensuring the packaging's environmental friendliness without compromising on its visual and tactile appeal.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AM: Submitting Auramithra to the A’ Design Award was a strategic decision to gain international recognition and validate the innovative and sustainable approach of the packaging.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
AM: The project deepened my expertise in sustainable design practices and reinforced the importance of integrating meaningful narratives into product packaging.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
AM: It's worth noting that Auramithra not only aims to captivate but also to educate consumers about the importance of sustainability and cultural heritage in design, making it a pioneer in its category.
