Interview with Mehmet Emin Gülşen at Monday 13th of May 2024

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MG: The main principle behind my design is to create a creative pipeline that empowers all users, enhancing functionality and accessibility to solve real-world problems innovatively. My inspiration stems from the potential to democratize technology, enabling everyday users to engage creatively and efficiently with our solutions.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MG: My main focus in designing this work was to create a user-friendly and powerful tool that enables anyone to engage in creative processes seamlessly. I aimed to achieve a balance between advanced functionality and accessibility, ensuring that both novice and experienced users can enhance their creative output effortlessly.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MG: My future plans for this award-winning design involve further refining its features based on user feedback, expanding its capabilities to include more advanced tools, and enhancing its accessibility to reach a broader audience. Additionally, I aim to explore partnerships and integrations that can extend the application’s utility and impact in new and exciting markets.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MG: It took about six months to design this particular concept, employing an iterative approach that included multiple rounds of real user testing to refine functionality and ensure the design met user needs effectively.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MG: I designed this particular concept in response to a clear need for more accessible creative tools in the market. This was not a commissioned project; instead, it was inspired by my desire to democratize creative expression, allowing users from all backgrounds to engage with technology in innovative ways.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MG: Our design has already been released and is currently being maintained by our company. We are committed to continuously improving and supporting the product internally. Additionally, we are open to exploring collaboration opportunities with other companies that can bring added value and expand the reach of our design.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
MG: We designed this particular type of work to address the gap we observed in creative tools that are both powerful and accessible to a wide range of users. The goal was to empower more people to engage in creative activities, especially those who might feel intimidated by the complexity of traditional tools. This motivation drove us to develop a solution that simplifies the creative process without sacrificing the quality of the output.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MG: Yes, the design of my work was influenced by a variety of sources, including contemporary digital design trends and the work of pioneering designers in the field of user interface and user experience. I also drew inspiration from the principles of minimalism and functionalism, ensuring that the design remains clean, intuitive, and focused on user needs. These influences helped shape a product that balances aesthetic appeal with practical utility.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
MG: The target customers for this design are content creators, digital marketing specialists, and social media users. These individuals require intuitive and powerful tools to efficiently create and manage high-quality visual content that engages their audiences and enhances their digital presence.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MG: What sets this design apart is its emphasis on user accessibility combined with advanced functionalities, tailored specifically for non-professionals. Unlike other tools that might overwhelm with complexity, this application simplifies the creative process without compromising on quality or capability. It also integrates unique features tailored to enhance the digital marketing workflows of social media users and content creators, ensuring they can achieve professional results with minimal effort.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MG: The name for this design, "Goru," was inspired by the Turkish word "Görü," which means "vision." This name was chosen to reflect the core purpose of the application—to provide users with the tools to bring their creative visions to life. It emphasizes the app’s ability to enhance visual content and supports users in achieving their creative goals, aligning perfectly with the functionality and aim of the product.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MG: For this project, we utilized a combination of design tools that allowed for efficient workflow and detailed design execution. Key tools included: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator: For creating and editing graphical elements. Figma: Facilitated collaboration among the design team, allowing for real-time feedback and adjustments.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MG: The most unique aspect of our design is its ability to create a seamless pipeline for content creation. This feature streamlines the entire process from initial conception to final production, allowing users to efficiently manage and execute their creative projects. Unlike many other applications that handle only specific parts of the content creation process, our design integrates various functionalities into a single, cohesive workflow. This integration not only saves time but also enhances the overall quality and coherence of the content, making it a standout feature in the market.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MG: For this design, we collaborated internally with our skilled team members who possess both design and development expertise. We didn’t need to outsource any part of the project because our team was fully equipped to handle all aspects, from the initial concept and design to the final development and testing. This approach ensured a seamless integration of both the creative and technical elements of the app, allowing us to maintain a consistent vision and high standards throughout the project lifecycle.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MG: Technology plays a central role in this design, acting as both the enabler and the innovator. It facilitates the seamless integration of various features that allow users to create, edit, and share content efficiently. Specifically, computational photography techniques and advanced image processing algorithms are utilized to enhance the functionality and performance of the application.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
