Interview with Ozhan Hazirlar at Monday 10th of June 2024

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
OH: Our design philosophy is about creating something new or improving the existing. We aimed to integrate nature into the space, providing the pleasure of barbecue indoors while maintaining a connection to nature.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
OH: Our main focus was to offer a comfortable barbecue experience at every table. We wanted to ensure that guests did not feel disconnected from nature despite being indoors.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
OH: We plan to develop new projects with similar concepts and introduce this concept to a wider audience. Our goal is to offer sustainable and innovative solutions.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
OH: It took approximately six months to design this concept, with careful and meticulous work at every step.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
OH: This concept was inspired by the idea of combining indoor and outdoor barbecue experiences, with a user-centric approach to meet their needs and expectations.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
OH: Currently, it is being implemented as a special order, but we may consider licensing options for similar projects in the future.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
OH: The popularity of barbecuing and the idea of bringing this experience indoors motivated us. We aimed to combine functionality and aesthetics to improve the user experience.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
OH: We were inspired by modern restaurant designs and the integration of nature into spaces. The cultural heritage of Istanbul also enriched our projects.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
OH: Our target customers are barbecue enthusiasts and those seeking a comfortable dining experience.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
OH: This design offers a unique barbecue experience that integrates nature, allowing guests to cook at every table.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
OH: Sivekar represents hospitality and comfort, reflecting the cultural richness of Istanbul.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
OH: We used 3D modeling software, CAD drawing tools, and visualization techniques.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
OH: Providing a barbecue experience indoors while maintaining a connection with nature.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
OH: We collaborated with interior designers, lighting experts, and kitchen equipment designers. Teamwork brought together different perspectives.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
OH: Advanced lighting and ventilation systems were used to enhance customer comfort. Innovation and technology are integral parts of our design process.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
OH: Customer behavior analysis and barbecue restaurant trends influenced our design. We conducted comprehensive research to improve user experience.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
OH: We faced technical challenges such as smoke control and lighting integration in the indoor environment.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
OH: We aimed to highlight the uniqueness and innovation of the project by seeking international recognition.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
OH: We learned new techniques and approaches for creating an integrated nature experience indoors. We constantly create opportunities for education and development.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
OH: We focus on sustainability and ecological balance in our designs. We emphasize the importance of community and environmental responsibility.
