Interview with seike hisashi at Friday 17th of May 2024

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
SH: I believe that "design resides in the details," and this principle guides my approach to design.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
SH: Since the client is a new company embarking on a fresh journey, they wanted to express the aspirations of this new venture.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
SH: They plan to promote themselves as a company that will spread its wings and reach out to the world.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
SH: It took approximately three to four months to consider the design.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
SH: We considered a design that resonates with the concept of the client's company name.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
SH: Since it is the client's company, I assume it is utilized by the employees working there.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
SH: As with point 05, we considered a design that resonates with the concept of the client's company name.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
SH: The designs of architects from the generation of Tadao Ando and Yoshiji Takehara represent my ideal.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
SH: I believe that the client's products will be utilized by major corporations in manufacturing and sales.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
SH: This is an effort to resonate with the company's name concept.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
SH: The single character "X" in the client's company name signifies the pursuit of infinite new discoveries through its versatility in combining with various elements.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
SH: Ultimately, we produced and reviewed CG perspectives, among other materials, but the foundation was primarily based on hand-drawn sketches.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
SH: We aim to create spaces that prioritize simplicity and accentuate the qualities of materials.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
SH: I collaborated partially with the design firm "fabricscape," specializing in textile design planning. I collaborated partially with "RE:STLABO," specializing in art greens.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
SH: It involves sharing the envisioned image with the client.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
SH: Based on the company's name concept, we conducted research into the type of workspace that the client desires.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
SH: Due to its extensive area, we faced challenges in balancing costs while ensuring the overall design permeates effectively.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
SH: Since the concept of the new company is to expand globally, we have aimed for it to be recognized worldwide, not limited to Japan.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
SH: I have learned to combine various materials and presentation techniques.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
SH: There are no questions at this time.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
