Interview with Ariel Palanzone at Thursday 19th of May 2022 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AP: The main theme has to do with dreams, and the ecistential questions of man, such as the passage of time. These impossible images are made up of deserted landscapes, metaphorical figures and dreamlike architectures. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AP: I wanted to achieve personal and contemplative images that invite reflection. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AP: I hope it has a lot of repercussion and that it can be exhibited in some art space. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AP: many years FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AP: It was not a custom, I only made them to channel my artistic expressiveness and in moments of introspection. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AP: I would like to sell it to a collector or art spaces. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AP: The need to express myself and stimulate my artistic sensitivity. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AP: Rene Magritte is one of them. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AP: Anyone who is open to reflection. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AP: I think the difference is in the subjectivity of the author. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AP: Look with the title to be very direct. Dreams derives from the fact that I have dreamed these images. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AP: Mainly Cinema 4d and Photoshop. But everything always starts with a pencil and paper sketch. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AP: Experimentation and invitation to think and feel. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AP: In this case I have worked alone. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? AP: Help to materialize the work. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? AP: It's just based on my dreams and personal experiences. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AP: The biggest challenge was finding the right composition, lighting, color palette and materiality. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AP: Only for curiosity FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AP: I have learned a lot about new technologies such as the field of 3d printing. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? AP: Just to clarify that my style does not always have to do with surreal images, but I am also interested in geometric and organic abstraction, among other things.
