Living In Mist ResidentialLiving In Mist ResidentialLiving in Mist Residential is an award-winning architectural interior design project completed in 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates natural elements with contemporary living spaces. The 330-square-meter modern residence, designed by Chang-Ming Tseng, exemplifies a sophisticated approach to harmonizing indoor spaces with their surrounding environment, particularly acknowledging its unique location between mountain and sea where mist naturally permeates the space. The design philosophy centers on three sensory experiences through carefully selected materials: visual impact is achieved through black stone with golden line designs and white adamantine spar, tactile sensation is enhanced through various textures including black mica crystal and granite, while olfactory elements are introduced through the extensive use of Japanese cypress. The spatial configuration emphasizes fluidity and natural connectivity, featuring an open-plan public area with wooden flooring that creates a seamless transition between spaces. Notable design elements include a sophisticated material palette comprising walnut wood, dekton with black pattern, grey lambskin, rose gold iron bars, and specialized glass treatments. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations, incorporating low-formaldehyde building materials and whole-room dehumidification systems to ensure optimal living conditions. The design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to residential interior design. The project successfully overcame significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in material procurement and international shipping logistics, while maintaining its commitment to design excellence and timely completion.
