From Point To Plane ResidenceFrom Point To Plane ResidenceFrom Point to Plane Residence is an innovative residential interior design project completed in March 2021 in Hsinchu, Taiwan, that masterfully demonstrates the harmonious integration of functionality and aesthetic refinement within a compact 56.2-square-meter space. The design, conceived by Shih-Kai Chen and Yu-Chen Wu, employs a sophisticated color palette dominated by gray and white tones, complemented by natural wood elements, creating a cohesive and serene living environment. The project's distinctive features include an L-frame wooden structure that ingeniously extends to connect with the television wall's display window, incorporating aluminum strip lighting, iron laminates, and mirrors to create a three-dimensional open display cabinet that effectively delineates the leisure area from the dining and kitchen spaces. The residence showcases exceptional space optimization through its L-shaped kitchen configuration and innovative island counter design, which seamlessly integrates with the ceiling lines to maximize spatial efficiency. Notable design elements include gray-blue furniture, leather fabrics, and strategic bright orange accents that inject vitality into the space, while the incorporation of Honeycomb Shades enables adaptive light control and energy efficiency. The study area demonstrates particular ingenuity in its integration with the living room, featuring a custom wooden low cabinet that doubles as a sun-lit reading nook, complemented by suspended iron bookshelves that add textural interest. This thoughtfully executed design, which won the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies how intelligent spatial planning and material selection can transform a modest-sized residence into a highly functional and aesthetically sophisticated living space.
