Maestoso Hotel

Maestoso Hotel is an innovative architectural renovation project that transformed a 1970s building into a contemporary hospitality establishment, exemplifying sustainable approaches to hotel modernization. The distinguished design, which earned an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a distinctive façade structure that serves dual purposes: supporting additional balconies while harmoniously integrating the building with its surrounding landscape. Drawing inspiration from the traditional white fences enclosing Lipizzaner horse pastures, the design incorporates this regional motif into the building envelope, creating a seamless connection between the hotel's substantial volume and the local environment. The project, completed in 2021 in Lipica, Slovenia, spans 7,785 square meters and demonstrates advanced technological integration through its parametrically modeled façade, which was produced using CNC-milled wooden beams. The interior design reveals the original concrete structure through brushed and cleaned walls, complemented by wooden and metal furnishings that add warmth to the space. This architectural intervention represents a forward-thinking approach to building renovation, where instead of demolition, existing structures are repurposed and expanded, promoting sustainability in the hospitality sector while maintaining cultural sensitivity and environmental consciousness.
