Ombre Aplomb Residential

Ombre Aplomb Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Eastern philosophical dualism with contemporary Western design aesthetics. Located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, this 160-square-meter residential apartment masterfully incorporates the concept of duality through its sophisticated use of contrasting materials and thoughtful spatial arrangement. The design philosophy centers on the interplay between shade and brightness, manifested through the strategic implementation of bianco carrara and nero marquina marbles, creating a striking black-and-white color scheme throughout the space. The residence comprises a spacious open living area, two ensuite bedrooms, and two functional rooms, with particular attention paid to the cultural requirements of Eastern culinary practices through a separately segmented kitchen. The interior's distinctive features include matte wall tiling juxtaposed with gray mirror paneling, mixed flooring of wood parquet and polished marbles, and antique mirror paneling behind the hearth that enhances spatial perception while accommodating audio equipment. The project, completed in February 2021, demonstrates exceptional attention to both aesthetic and functional considerations, incorporating sufficient day-lighting in private spaces and maintaining an elegant, clean arrangement in shared areas. The design's excellence was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and material selection. The project successfully overcomes technical challenges, such as long-distance gas pipeline relocation, while maintaining its commitment to creating a livable, well-functioning habitat that bridges philosophical concepts with practical design solutions.
