Wyndham Dongrong ResortWyndham Dongrong ResortWyndham Dongrong Resort is an architecturally significant hospitality complex located in Yixian County, Huangshan Mountain, Anhui, China, exemplifying a harmonious blend of contemporary design with traditional Huizhou cultural elements. Completed in December 2020, this 67,118-square-meter resort development, designed by Luke Han, masterfully integrates local architectural heritage with modern amenities through its innovative spatial planning and material selection. The design philosophy draws inspiration from traditional Hui-style village layouts, incorporating a series of enclosed courtyards, meandering water systems, and intricate corridors that create an organic spatial flow reflecting the principle of harmony between human habitation and nature. The resort's distinctive exterior features locally-sourced Yixian Green marble on the lower three floors, creating a visual grounding effect that anchors the structure within its natural surroundings. A notable innovation in the facade design includes custom-developed bamboo-joint boards, fabricated from cement fiber and reinforced concrete, which provide both aesthetic appeal and thermal insulation. The property's architectural narrative is further enhanced by the integration of traditional elements such as the horse head wall motifs, reinterpreted through modern design techniques to create undulating facades and artistic installations. The Huang Hui Pavilion situated alongside the river serves as a focal point, demonstrating the designer's ability to translate historical architectural elements into contemporary expressions. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category represents a significant achievement in hospitality design, offering guests an immersive experience that bridges historical context with modern comfort while maintaining strong connections to its cultural and natural environment.
