Paper Plane ResidencePaper Plane ResidencePaper Plane Residence is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2021 in New Taipei City, exemplifying the creative optimization of compact living spaces through intelligent spatial design and multi-functional elements. This 43-square-meter residence masterfully incorporates vertical development and flexible space utilization to maximize its limited footprint, particularly evident in its ingenious 16-square-meter public area that seamlessly integrates dining, living, study, and exercise functionalities. Drawing inspiration from the art of paper folding and the graceful trajectory of paper planes, the design symbolizes aspirations and possibilities, featuring a semi-industrial aesthetic combined with thoughtful multi-functional spatial arrangements. The project's distinctive characteristics include innovative ceiling utilization at the entrance, transformed into vertical storage space, and the implementation of folding hidden tables that enable dynamic space transformation. The design employs eco-friendly materials, notably CNS-F1 graded plywood, processed off-site to minimize environmental impact and facilitate potential future relocation. The interior's aesthetic is characterized by irregular tilting veneer creating fluid visual movement, complemented by a sophisticated color palette that balances gentle tones with vibrant accents. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2022, demonstrates exceptional space optimization through the strategic overlap of functional areas and time-based usage patterns, effectively challenging conventional spatial limitations while maintaining aesthetic sophistication.
