Open And Wild Greenway

Open and Wild Greenway is a significant urban landscape development project that exemplifies innovative ecological design principles in public space planning. Located within the East Lake area of Wuhan, China, this comprehensive greenway system encompasses approximately 310 hectares of carefully curated landscape, centered around the historic Moshan Park. The project, completed in 2018, represents a sophisticated approach to urban greenway design that seamlessly integrates natural ecology with public accessibility. Its design philosophy revolves around the concept of Making the City Quiet, creating a harmonious transition between lake and forest environments while preserving historical elements and cultural significance. The greenway's design emphasizes multi-functional spaces that accommodate diverse civic activities throughout all seasons, featuring thoughtfully planned rest stations, strategic traffic connections, and meticulous attention to environmental preservation. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design, demonstrates exceptional achievement in sustainable urban development through its innovative approach to water management, preservation of native vegetation, and creation of diverse experiential spaces.
