Light Box Residential House

Light Box Residential House

Light Box Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural light, human experience, and spatial design. Conceived and executed by designer Jun Zheng, this three-story townhouse encompasses 400 square meters of thoughtfully crafted living space, featuring a rectangular layout measuring 15.5 meters in length and 7.8 meters in width. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the architectural principles of Louis Barragan, particularly emphasizing the interplay between tranquility, light, and human interaction within domestic spaces. The project's distinctive approach to spatial organization manifests through its sophisticated use of light boxes, which serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, creating an atmosphere of serenity and contemplation. The interior design demonstrates remarkable attention to detail, incorporating precise craftsmanship such as 1mm controlled joints between solid wood veneers and carefully calculated gaps between stone and wood elements to ensure longevity. The first floor includes a transformed kitchen and teahouse patio, repurposed from the original garden space, occupying approximately 30 square meters. This residential design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary residential architecture, particularly for its successful integration of Oriental aesthetics, natural elements, and humanistic principles. The project's emphasis on subtraction rather than complicated decoration forms allows for maximized human behavior and movement, creating a living environment that promotes both individual independence and familial togetherness.
