S90 Residence Residential DwellingS90 Residence Residential DwellingS90 Residence Residential Dwelling is an innovative two-generation residential architecture project located in the northern part of Tainan Prefecture, Taiwan, exemplifying sustainable design principles and modern architectural solutions. The dwelling, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional integration of environmental considerations and functional spatial planning. The structure encompasses a total development area of 324 square meters, featuring a distinctive white façade that harmoniously blends with the surrounding green landscape while effectively minimizing heat gain from intense solar exposure. The architectural composition comprises two primary volumes: a two-story section designated for a young couple and a single-story space for parents, with shared communal areas including the entrance, living space, and kitchen-dining area on the ground floor. The design's sophisticated approach to sustainability is evident in its carefully calculated sun exposure analysis, natural ventilation optimization, and a strategically sloped roof designed to accommodate future photovoltaic solar panel installations. The building's exterior employs an innovative LOTAS coating, utilizing century-old reservoir sludge as a sustainable construction material, while the steel structure with exterior panel finish ensures durability and architectural integrity. The project, completed in March 2020, represents a significant achievement in addressing the challenges of developing sustainable dwellings in Taiwan's demanding climate conditions, utilizing advanced solar exposure calculation software to optimize window placements and interior illumination. The design process incorporated both physical and digital modeling techniques to achieve optimal proportions and detailed architectural elements, resulting in a harmonious balance between form and function that earned recognition from the prestigious A' Design Award competition.
