Soki Atami HotelSoki Atami HotelSoki Atami Hotel is a distinguished luxury hot spring retreat situated in Atami, a historic coastal resort town in Shizuoka, Japan, that reimagines the traditional Japanese ryokan concept for contemporary lifestyles. This architectural masterpiece, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2021, represents a harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese hospitality and modern luxury accommodations. The hotel's design philosophy centers on the ancient Japanese concept of Toji (hot spring healing), incorporating private hot spring baths in every guest room alongside a public onsen facility. The architectural composition emphasizes deep connections with the local community and natural environment, utilizing locally-sourced materials including Tenryu region cypress and cedar, and Hon-Komatsu stone from Manazuru. The interior design showcases a sophisticated blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics, featuring charred cedar, Japanese plastering, and Washi paper dyed with natural pigments, complemented by carefully curated Japanese antique Brocante decorations. The property's facilities include a restaurant with a garden that serves locally-sourced seasonal cuisine, and a top-floor Tea Salon & Bar offering panoramic views of Atami Bay. The project, which began in July 2017 and opened its doors in November 2020, stands as a testament to sustainable luxury hospitality design, emphasizing the preservation of local culture while creating meaningful connections between guests and the region's rich natural and cultural heritage.
