Nu WatchNu WatchNu Watch is an innovative timepiece that combines environmental activism with sophisticated design, featuring a unique water-filled dial containing samples from some of the world's most polluted water bodies. Created by designers Maziar Mohit and Iman Kimiaei, this conceptual watch serves as a powerful conversation piece about water pollution and environmental consciousness. The design, inspired by morning dew droplets, showcases a distinctive form where the watch case appears to rest naturally atop the strap, mimicking the organic shape of a water droplet on a leaf. The timepiece employs advanced technical features, including a domed sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides, protecting a 316L high-quality steel case. The watch's most remarkable feature lies in its innovative time-display mechanism: clear acrylic hands, nearly invisible within the water-filled dial due to matching refractive indices, illuminate through an LED activation system triggered by touching the watch's metal body. This interaction creates a striking visual effect as the hands appear to glow through the murky water. The watch, measuring 38mm in diameter and 12mm in thickness, incorporates sustainable elements such as cruelty-free cactus leather for the strap with a magnetic clasp. The polluted water undergoes UV sterilization before being sealed within the dial, ensuring safety while preserving its symbolic impact. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation in the Jewelry Design category represents a masterful blend of functional timepiece design and environmental commentary, demonstrating how contemporary jewelry can serve as a medium for social awareness and change.
