The Sunshine BroochThe Sunshine BroochThe Sunshine Brooch is an exquisite piece of jewelry design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of historical narrative and contemporary craftsmanship, created by designer Victor A. Syrnev. This remarkable piece, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, features a masterfully cut large quartz stone with rutile inclusions measuring 88.8 carats, set within an innovative invisible frame crafted from 18K gold and platinum-950. The design draws profound inspiration from Princess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Russian Emperor Nicholas II, who was affectionately known as Sunshine due to her cheerful disposition. The brooch's sophisticated construction employs an ingenious mounting system where the main stone is secured by two unobtrusive fixtures and a diamond-encrusted plate (featuring 0.58 carats of diamonds), which also supports a 1.9-carat tourmaline stone. Measuring 51.4 x 41.0 x 8.6 millimeters, this versatile piece can be worn both as a brooch and as a necklace. The creation process, which spanned from 2011 to 2013, involved extensive historical research and collaboration with renowned stone cutter Bernd Munsteiner to achieve the precise cut that would capture the essence of sunlight. The design's technical innovation lies in its ability to conceal the assembly technology while highlighting the stones' natural beauty, creating an illusion of stones floating in air. This piece represents a significant achievement in contemporary jewelry design, successfully translating human emotions and historical narrative into a tangible art form through innovative stone cutting techniques and sophisticated metalwork.
