Maison Francois RestaurantMaison Francois RestaurantMaison Francois Restaurant is an innovative hospitality design project that reimagines the traditional French brasserie concept through a sophisticated fusion of Postmodernism and Brutalism architectural elements. Located within a 500-square-meter space, this distinguished establishment represents a bold departure from conventional Art Deco-inspired brasserie designs, drawing significant inspiration from Ricardo Bofill's La Fabrica in Barcelona. The restaurant's architectural composition features impressive terracotta arches and a distinctive coffered ceiling finished in phonic material with faux-cement treatment, harmoniously complementing the polished concrete flooring. The interior design masterfully balances grandeur with intimacy through thoughtfully crafted elements including curved walnut banquettes with privacy glass uppers, upholstered in cream linen, and floor-to-ceiling drapery that softens the imposing architectural features. A central island pass serves as the restaurant's focal point, crowned by a monumental clock and enhanced by a lambs-tongue mahogany and bevelled mirror canopy, reminiscent of the Ismaili Centre's windows. The material palette incorporates noble materials such as walnut and mahogany joinery, complemented by patinated brass and nickel metalwork, creating a sophisticated interplay of textures and finishes. This exceptional design, completed in September 2020, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to evolving the brasserie genre while maintaining functional excellence and aesthetic sophistication.
