Shin Tay Yuan Decal Paper Tourism FactoryShin Tay Yuan Decal Paper Tourism FactoryShin Tay Yuan Decal Paper Tourism Factory is an innovative interior design project that reimagines a 50-year-old ceramic decal manufacturing facility as an engaging tourism destination, exemplifying the successful transformation of industrial heritage into contemporary experiential space. Located in the historic ceramic town of Yingge, this 272-square-meter renovation project masterfully integrates industrial materials and processes into its architectural narrative, featuring distinctive design elements such as punched-plate partitions and screen printing-inspired installations that pay homage to the facility's original function. The design thoughtfully incorporates factory materials throughout, transforming utilitarian elements like wooden boards traditionally used for stacking ceramic decals into functional counter spaces. The entrance is characterized by a minimalist white space, symbolically representing undecorated porcelain awaiting decoration, while the overall spatial arrangement facilitates both educational and interactive experiences. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, successfully addresses multiple design challenges including space optimization, heritage preservation, and modern functionality. Through careful consideration of materials including wood, steel, ceramic tile, and porcelain, the design creates an immersive environment that effectively communicates the ceramic decal industry's technical expertise while maintaining operational efficiency. The project's innovative approach to industrial tourism demonstrates how thoughtful design can bridge traditional manufacturing processes with contemporary spatial experiences, contributing to the cultural and economic revitalization of Taiwan's ceramic industry heritage.
