The Ring House & AtelierThe Ring House & AtelierThe Ring House & Atelier is an innovative architectural masterpiece located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, designed by Lebanese architect Marwan Zgheib as a private sanctuary for a young jewelry artist. This remarkable structure, which earned the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, exemplifies a harmonious fusion of form and function through its distinctive cylindrical exterior embracing a rectangular interior volume. The design concept manifests as a metaphorical cocoon, with the circular outer wall serving as a protective barrier that shields the inhabitant from the chaotic urban surroundings while featuring a single, carefully positioned entrance. Within its 100-square-meter footprint, the interior space is thoughtfully organized to accommodate both residential and professional needs, incorporating a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, and a dedicated atelier where the artist can pursue her creative endeavors. The structure's innovative spatial arrangement creates a fluid interaction between the interior living spaces and a serene outdoor atrium, which features a symbolic tree and a circular water feature that enhances the contemplative atmosphere. Constructed primarily of concrete, the building's design philosophy emphasizes the creation of a peaceful inner sanctuary that enables the artist to retreat from external disturbances while fostering personal growth and artistic development. The Ring House & Atelier represents a sophisticated architectural solution that successfully addresses the dual requirements of private living quarters and a creative workspace while maintaining a strong conceptual connection to the owner's profession through its ring-like form.
