Virtual Scenery ResidenceVirtual Scenery ResidenceVirtual Scenery Residence is an innovative architectural project completed in February 2021 in Macau, encompassing 485 square meters of living space that masterfully integrates the ever-changing scenery of Sai Van Lake into its design philosophy. The residence, designed by Clement Tung Jeun Cheng, exemplifies a harmonious blend of interior and exterior spaces through its sophisticated use of materials and visual elements. The design's primary concept revolves around capturing the dynamic nature of the lake, utilizing varying densities and angles to visualize water patterns and wave movements throughout the structure. Distinguished by its white frames that outline the lake's shimmering reflections and rhythmic ripples, the residence employs a deliberately low-chroma material palette to reduce visual pressure and enhance the serene atmosphere. The interior design features warm wood finishes and patterned flooring that mirrors the lake's changeable nature, while the thoughtful arrangement of color depths effectively delineates functional areas and creates an enhanced sense of spatial scale. A particularly striking architectural element is the intermediate space connecting the upper and lower floors, where black metal bars and champagne-colored handrails create a visually dynamic staircase. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining aesthetic appeal with functional efficiency. This prestigious award acknowledges the design's innovative approach to spatial harmony and its successful integration with its surroundings, particularly in how it brings the poetic qualities of the lake's sunset ripples into the living space.
