Silence In All ResidentialSilence In All ResidentialSilence in All Residential is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial transformation through thoughtful renovation of a 40-year-old residence in Taiwan. The design, conceived by Wei Han Shih, masterfully addresses structural challenges while creating an aesthetically refined living environment that harmoniously integrates the client's passion for ink paintings and rare art collections. The project's distinctive approach employs a sophisticated grayscale palette, drawing inspiration from running waters and painting frames, while incorporating natural thin sintered stones to create a floating-like imagery throughout the space. The renovation comprehensively tackled inherent structural issues, including flood prevention through elevated flooring and enhanced waterproofing, while implementing green building materials such as Fiberock for superior moisture resistance and soundproofing. The design's innovative use of materials extends to Italy-imported paints, glass tiles, painted glasses, and architectural concrete, creating a multilayered visual experience that expands the perception of space within the narrow, linear layout. The project, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning by dividing the structure into distinct functional zones - garage, public area, private area, and basement storage - while maintaining visual continuity through carefully considered material selections and thoughtful implementation of storage solutions. The design's sophisticated integration of transparent and reflective surfaces, combined with strategic placement of wall cabinets and double-sided storage units, creates an environment that is both functionally efficient and visually expansive, successfully balancing practical requirements with artistic sensibility.
