Santacove Art Yard

Santacove Art Yard

Santacove Art Yard is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully integrates traditional Japanese architectural principles with contemporary living requirements, situated in the Shunde District of Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. This 220-square-meter dwelling space demonstrates a sophisticated interpretation of Japanese aesthetic sensibilities, characterized by its seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces through thoughtful design elements such as grilles, glass partitions, and carefully curated landscape features. The design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious relationship between nature, humanity, and spiritual well-being, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese housing concepts while adapting them to meet modern lifestyle needs. The space is distinguished by its minimalist approach, featuring simple spatial structures primarily composed of flooring, columns, and roof elements, with minimal use of partition walls to promote openness and natural flow. Notable design elements include a dry landscape courtyard, traditional artistic elements such as Ukiyoe-style Mount Fuji paintings, and carefully selected natural materials that highlight their inherent textures and properties. The project's excellence in interior space design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2022, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial organization, material selection, and cultural integration. The design successfully addresses the challenge of creating a spacious yet private living environment that balances aesthetic refinement with practical functionality, incorporating elements such as iron teapots, stone-like vases, and elegant floral arrangements that reflect the contemplative nature of Japanese Zen culture.
