Villa De Nozomi Senior Care Residence is an innovative senior care facility located in Tokyo, Japan, that revolutionizes the traditional approach to elderly care through its artistic and therapeutic architectural design. Completed in April 2021, this six-story structure encompasses 3,600 square meters of thoughtfully crafted living space, situated on a 1,244-square-meter plot adjacent to a public park. The facility's distinctive design philosophy, conceived by architect Takuji Kamio, integrates artistic elements and geometric expressions throughout the interior spaces to create an engaging and stimulating environment for senior residents. The building's design emphasizes the importance of creative spaces in elderly care, featuring unique ceiling treatments with varied heights and colored circular shapes that create dynamic lighting effects and visual interest. The interior spaces incorporate innovative material applications, utilizing wooden panels and PVC sheets arranged in distinctive patterns to generate dimensional rhythms and diverse visual impressions while maintaining cost efficiency. The main lounge area particularly exemplifies this approach through its sophisticated ceiling design, which guides visitors' attention upward and creates an extraordinary spatial experience. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental integration, carefully considering color coordination and lighting effects to comply with local regulations while maintaining its artistic integrity.
