Barry Callebaut HeadquartersBarry Callebaut HeadquartersBarry Callebaut Headquarters is an innovative workplace design project located in downtown Zurich, Switzerland, encompassing 3,800 square meters across three floors of a modern business centre. This distinguished interior design project, completed in 2021 by a Swiss architecture studio, represents a groundbreaking approach to corporate workspace design that seamlessly integrates sensory experiences with functional requirements. The headquarters features a unique central chocolate academy with professional kitchen facilities, visible through glazed walls, serving as both a functional space and a visual centerpiece that immediately engages visitors and staff upon arrival. The design philosophy emphasizes sustainability and sensory engagement through thoughtfully selected materials, including various wood textures, natural cork, moss, and safflower wallpaper, creating an environment that reflects the artisanal nature of chocolate craftsmanship. The space is organized around three distinctive hubs connected by internal staircases, each featuring its own color palette and design elements that facilitate employee circulation and informal interactions. Environmental consciousness is evident in the integration of oxygen-generating plants equipped with sensors to maintain optimal air quality, while the overall design adheres to Swiss sustainability standards. The project, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully addresses post-pandemic workplace requirements while creating an immersive environment that celebrates the craft of chocolate making through its tactile design elements, earthy color schemes, and innovative spatial organization.
