Eumakeit Multifunctional ReelEumakeit Multifunctional ReelEumakeit Multifunctional Reel is an innovative sustainable design solution that exemplifies the principles of circular economy and waste reduction in product design. This groundbreaking system transforms conventional filament spools into functional objects through thoughtful engineering and modular design principles. The design consists of eight polystyrene components and two polycarbonate elements, manufactured through injection molding, which can be disassembled and repurposed once the primary function as a filament holder is complete. The system's versatility is demonstrated through its ability to be converted into practical items such as clothes hangers or, more significantly, to serve as building blocks for creating sophisticated home décor pieces when combined with 3D-printed components. The design's environmental consciousness is reflected in its use of PLA (Poly-Lactic Acid), a biodegradable and compostable material, for the filament, produced through an eco-friendly extrusion process powered entirely by solar energy. The system offers unprecedented customization possibilities with over 100 color variations, surpassing traditional injection molding capabilities. This innovative approach to product design, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design category, represents a significant advancement in sustainable manufacturing practices. The design's dimensions of 160mm x 120mm x 180mm when assembled allow for practical storage and versatile application, while its modular nature enables the creation of up to eleven distinct objects from a single spool, demonstrating exceptional resource efficiency and creative potential in sustainable design.
