Towards Nature Towards You Exhibition is an innovative 199-square-meter art exhibition space located in the Panyu district of Guangzhou, China, designed by Xiaowei Liu and Linying Jiang to revitalize local Lingnan culture through contemporary architectural expression. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project, completed in January 2022, represents a groundbreaking approach to exhibition design by transforming the designers' personal experiences into physical architectural elements. The space features distinctive arches of varying sizes that accommodate visitors of different ages and demographics, creating unique visual and sensory experiences for each individual. The design philosophy emphasizes three core elements: open space, minimalism, and the thoughtful use of sustainable local materials, including traditional red bricks, cement, and wood. The exhibition space functions as a 'living' interior design, where architectural forms serve multiple purposes as both display areas and interactive seating arrangements. This innovative approach allows visitors to become active participants in the artistic experience rather than mere observers. The project successfully addresses the challenge of cultural preservation while introducing contemporary design elements, creating a bridge between traditional Lingnan heritage and modern artistic expression.
