Pulse Art Installation

Pulse Art Installation

Pulse Art Installation is a sophisticated interactive art piece that explores the emotional journey of immigrants through a harmonious blend of digital technology and architectural design. Created by designers Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, this monumental structure stands 5.8 meters tall with a width of 7 meters and depth of 7.8 meters, employing an intricate system of steel tubes in varying diameters connected by fiber mesh. The installation's primary innovation lies in its ability to transform emotional states into digital light signals, synchronized with specially composed background music to create an immersive experience. The structure's organic form incorporates LED light strips that pulse in rhythm with the soundscape, representing the complex spectrum of immigrant emotions ranging from hope and excitement to nervousness and fear. Operating on a programmed cycle, the installation comes alive at sunset, featuring a three-minute lighting show every half hour that articulates these emotional narratives through its dynamic illumination patterns. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, demonstrates exceptional technical achievement in integrating digital lighting with physical structural elements. The installation's development spanned from October 2021 to February 2022, culminating in a significant public art piece that serves as a powerful metaphor for the immigrant experience, making invisible emotional journeys visible through innovative design and technology.
