The 135-square-meter interior space, designed by Chun-Yu Chang of Wu-Su Interior Design, represents a sophisticated fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary design principles, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The restaurant's design philosophy centers on creating a dual-purpose space that functions both as a dining venue and an art gallery, showcasing the owner's curated collection of antiques and artworks. The interior architecture employs a carefully considered material palette, including architectural concrete, traditional yakisugi bans (charred wood), and naturally oxidized ironware, all chosen to reflect the restaurant's commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship. The space planning encompasses a main dining area, VIP room, itamae (chef's counter), pantry, kitchen, and auxiliary facilities, with particular attention paid to acoustic design through the strategic implementation of sound-absorptive materials. The color scheme predominantly features black and grey tones, creating a sophisticated backdrop that highlights both the culinary presentations and artistic displays through precisely directed lighting. Notable design elements include an ergonomically optimized itamae area that embodies traditional Japanese craftsmanship while maintaining operational efficiency, and a thoughtfully designed entrance hallway that establishes a compelling transitional experience. The restaurant's design successfully addresses multiple technical challenges, including sound control and the creation of intimate dining spaces within an open floor plan, while maintaining environmental consciousness through the use of non-formaldehyde and non-VOC cement paints.
