Grasp The Light ResidenceGrasp The Light ResidenceGrasp the Light Residence is an innovative architectural renovation project that transformed a 40-year-old house into a contemporary living space, exemplifying excellence in interior design through its thoughtful integration of natural light and spatial optimization. The residence, spanning 75 pings across three floors, showcases a masterful blend of traditional and modern materials, including cedar, cypress, steel frames, granites, red bricks, and glass elements. The design's most distinctive feature is its innovative glass-made rooftop solution, which addresses the inherent challenges of the narrow, elongated structure by maximizing natural illumination and ventilation throughout the space. The first floor encompasses an entryway, living room, dining room, kitchen, study, and both front and back yards, while the second floor houses leisure and workout areas, the master suite, and a working space, with the third floor containing a secondary bedroom and additional work area. The interior design philosophy emphasizes transparency and functionality, featuring cathedral ceilings, a solid wood book wall, and steel-framed glass treads that create visual continuity between floors. Notable design elements include the strategic placement of a long, solid wood dining table in the kitchen area, bamboo ceiling details that enhance the rustic aesthetic, and carefully positioned French windows that expand the visual space. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in addressing structural challenges while creating a harmonious living environment that balances aesthetic appeal with practical functionality.
