Kylie Residential HouseKylie Residential HouseKylie Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project completed in 2021 in Heuchelheim, Hesse, Germany, distinguished by its unique rotating structure that mimics the movement of a sunflower to optimize solar energy utilization throughout the day. This groundbreaking design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, exemplifies the harmonious integration of sustainable technology with sculptural architecture. The structure's most remarkable feature is its dynamic ability to rotate with the sun's path, minimizing heating requirements in winter through maximized solar gains while providing natural shade protection during summer months. The building's design philosophy centers on creating a living organism where interior and exterior spaces merge seamlessly through exciting geometries and individual spatial alignments. Constructed using modern timber frame technology, the house emphasizes sustainability through its choice of materials, including native oakwood for exterior cladding, terrace decking, interior furniture, wall treatments, and flooring. The residence incorporates advanced environmental technologies, including a groundwater heat pump, capillary tube mats for thermal comfort, and a photovoltaic system that enables the house to generate more energy than it consumes. The interior design features a central living area with a high, open-air space and a dynamically designed steel staircase, while functional areas are arranged as freely formed architectural elements around this core. A distinctive boomerang-shaped privacy area is integrated into the cylindrical base structure, connected to work and relaxation spaces via an elevated walkway through the airspace, creating a sophisticated interplay of spatial relationships that responds to both practical needs and aesthetic aspirations.
