Dajing Homestay HotelDajing Homestay HotelDajing Homestay Hotel is an innovative architectural project located in Renhua County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, China, that masterfully integrates contemporary design with traditional village aesthetics. Completed in 2021, this 1,914.57-square-meter development represents a sophisticated approach to rural hospitality architecture, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category. The design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious relationship between built structures and the natural environment, particularly incorporating century-old camphor trees and existing waterways as focal points of the spatial narrative. The architectural composition features thoughtfully arranged buildings that include a lobby restaurant, book bar, single-family villas, and a main guest room building, all interconnected through outdoor corridors that evoke the experiential quality of traversing a traditional village. The project employs a carefully selected material palette of concrete, wood-like aluminum, glass, and brick, chosen specifically to help the new structures blend seamlessly with the existing village context while maintaining their distinct contemporary identity. The design's unique approach to spatial organization positions all buildings to face both the natural elements of streams and ancient trees, creating an intriguing internal atmosphere, while simultaneously orienting towards the provincial highway for enhanced accessibility. This dual-facing arrangement successfully balances the need for privacy and connection to nature with practical considerations of visibility and access. The project, which began in January 2019, demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to its cultural and environmental context, serving as a catalyst for local development while preserving and highlighting the historical significance of Dajing Village, which dates back to the Ming Dynasty. The design team's innovative approach to integrating modern hospitality requirements with traditional village architecture has created a unique destination that offers visitors an authentic experience of rural Chinese culture while enjoying contemporary comforts.
