Otto Uno Residential Building And Social HousingOtto Uno Residential Building And Social HousingOtto Uno Residential Building and Social Housing is an innovative eight-story residential development located in Punta del Este, Uruguay, that exemplifies the harmonious integration of contemporary architecture with biophilic design principles. The structure, designed by architects Natalia Ottonello and Ian Guevara, comprises 36 apartments distributed across six floors, featuring a ground-level lobby with parking facilities and a multifunctional rooftop terrace. The architectural composition is distinguished by its sophisticated use of floor-to-ceiling glazing, black aluminum, and wood elements, creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. Each apartment, ranging from one to three bedrooms, incorporates dedicated green areas with geometrical planters housing native flora, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable urban living. The rooftop terrace serves as a communal hub, offering amenities including a swimming pool, solarium, fitness center, recreational lounge, and community vegetable gardens. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project, recognized in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a significant advancement in social housing design, prioritizing environmental responsibility and community well-being. The development's emphasis on natural light, transparency, and integrated vegetation establishes a new paradigm for affordable housing, where sustainable features and contemporary design aesthetics coexist with social responsibility. The project, initiated in December 2020 and completed in November 2022, stands as a pioneering example of sustainable social housing in Uruguay, demonstrating how thoughtful architectural design can enhance urban living while maintaining accessibility and affordability.
