Sky Lounge Restaurant And BarSky Lounge Restaurant And BarSky Lounge Restaurant and Bar is an innovative architectural and interior design project that exemplifies the fusion of sustainable materials with contemporary design aesthetics, situated atop a hotel in Kolhapur, India. This remarkable hospitality space, designed by architect Ketan Jawdekar and team, spans 1800 square meters of indoor space complemented by a 150-square-meter open-air terrace, distinguished by its groundbreaking parametric ceiling installation comprising 20,521 recycled paper tubes. The design concept draws inspiration from Kolhapur's rich textile heritage, ingeniously repurposing industrial paper tubes traditionally used in textile manufacturing to create an interactive ceiling installation that responds to natural air currents, producing dynamic wave-like patterns that enhance the dining experience. The space is thoughtfully segmented into distinct zones, including a reception lobby, pizza counter, sundeck, enclosed bar area, and open seating arrangements, all unified by the continuous flow of the parametric ceiling design. The innovative use of sustainable materials extends to the careful selection of basalt stone walls and grey ceramic flooring, which complement the natural aesthetic of the paper tube installation. The project, completed in 2021, demonstrates exceptional attention to technical detail, incorporating specialized coating treatments for moisture resistance and fire safety, while the parametric design was developed using advanced software like Rhino and SketchUp. This sophisticated hospitality venue, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, represents a significant achievement in sustainable luxury design, seamlessly integrating local context with contemporary architectural innovation.
