Peace Of Mind Interior DesignPeace Of Mind Interior DesignPeace of Mind Interior Design is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural elements with mindful living spaces. Located on the first floor of an apartment building in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this 132-square-meter space, completed in 2021, features open front and back yards totaling 50 square meters, designed to create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor environments. The project, conceived by designers Yi-Lun Hsu and Chen-Chia Chang, demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to environmental consciousness and wellness-focused design principles, incorporating native Taiwanese materials such as local wood species, stone, wood wool cement board, rattan, cotton, and linen, while deliberately excluding tropical rainforest materials. The design's distinctive features include a floating water garden in the front yard, a natural fern and vanilla sanctuary in the backyard, and thoughtfully crafted interior spaces that accommodate multiple wellness activities including yoga, painting, and singing bowl healing. The interior architecture showcases innovative acoustic solutions, particularly in the studio area, where wood wool cement board installations provide superior sound absorption and noise reduction while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The living spaces are characterized by sophisticated material combinations, including black stained oak grilles, Taiwan bead tree platforms, and a Taiwan camphor dining table, all unified under a cohesive design philosophy that prioritizes mental tranquility and natural harmony. The project, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in creating spaces that foster psychological well-being while maintaining environmental responsibility. The design's success lies in its ability to balance functional requirements with aesthetic refinement, incorporating elements such as an elevated platform connecting the piano room and master bedroom, creating contemplative corners with strategic 90-degree window views, and establishing transitional spaces that feature rough, dark imitation stone tiles and traditional craftsmanship in rattan and Taiwan Nanmu wood.
