Eth Country VillaEth Country VillaEth Country Villa is an innovative residential architectural project that exemplifies sustainable design principles through its thoughtful integration with nature and use of traditional building techniques. Designed by Alexandru Zingaliuc, this single-family residence, situated along a riverbank, masterfully employs rammed earth as its primary construction material, demonstrating a contemporary revival of ancient building methods. The villa's longitudinal development on a single level responds intelligently to its site constraints, featuring an open-concept living space that harmoniously connects with three ensuite bedrooms. Spanning 380 square meters on a 2500-square-meter lot, the design achieves a delicate balance between privacy and openness, with an opaque street-facing facade that transitions to transparent surfaces overlooking the river. The structure's environmental consciousness is evident in its material selection, where rammed earth walls provide natural insulation, humidity regulation, and minimal environmental impact. The architectural composition is complemented by carefully chosen wood, metal, and glass elements that enhance rather than compete with the earthen walls' natural aesthetic. Winner of the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, this project stands out for its commitment to sustainability, functional efficiency, and harmonious integration with its surroundings. The villa's spatial organization reflects a sophisticated understanding of modern living requirements, featuring separate zones for private and communal activities, connected through a gallery that facilitates smooth circulation while maintaining distinct functional areas.
