Toshin Takarazuka School OfficeToshin Takarazuka School OfficeToshin Takarazuka School Office is an innovative interior design project completed in February 2021 that exemplifies adaptive architectural response to the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining aesthetic excellence. Located in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, this 69-square-meter educational facility space features a distinctive broken thunder-shaped configuration that ingeniously divides the area into staff and guest zones. The design, conceived by architect Tetsuya Matsumoto in collaboration with Motoaki Takeuchi and Farid Ziani, incorporates a sophisticated system of alternating glass panels sandwiched between duplicated boards, creating an effective protective barrier while facilitating essential air circulation and document exchange. The space's sophisticated design elements include a reception counter supplemented by a high counter, consultation tables, and an integrated video projection system for remote meetings. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to safety protocols while maintaining operational efficiency. The interior's materiality showcases a thoughtful combination of white and black veneer finishes, with specialized antiviral melamine veneer applied to counter surfaces. The design's undulating thunder-shaped configuration, coupled with strategic mirror placement, creates an illusion of expanded space while maintaining distinct functional zones. This architectural solution represents a significant advancement in post-pandemic interior design, successfully balancing protective measures with aesthetic considerations and operational requirements in educational environments.
