Gouverneto Monastery BrandingGouverneto Monastery BrandingGouverneto Monastery Branding is an award-winning packaging and visual identity design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of religious heritage with contemporary design aesthetics. Created between 2019 and 2021 by Greek designers Antonia Skaraki and Andreas Deskas, this comprehensive branding solution was developed for a historic monastery located on the island of Crete, specifically designed to represent their handcrafted products. The design philosophy draws profound inspiration from neptic fathers' principles of sobriety, spiritual practice, and virtuous living, translating these sacred concepts into tangible design elements. The project encompasses a sophisticated packaging system featuring precisely dimensioned glass bottles (60mm x 60mm x 250mm) and accompanying paper boxes (240mm x 240mm x 80mm), which effectively balance functionality with aesthetic appeal. The visual language of the design is deeply rooted in the monastery's architectural elements, particularly incorporating the interplay of light and shadow characteristic of the temple's stained glass windows, creating a meaningful connection between the physical space and the product presentation. This thoughtful approach to religious product branding earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its success in merging traditional monastic values with contemporary design principles while maintaining cultural sensitivity and functional efficiency.
