Urchin Table Cruet/Condiment SetUrchin Table Cruet/Condiment SetUrchin Table Cruet/Condiment Set is an innovative dining accessory that bridges the gap between formal and casual dining experiences through its distinctive biomorphic design inspired by sea urchins and coral formations. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation represents a sophisticated approach to tableware design, featuring injection-molded polyamide shells with a soft-touch silicone finish and 18/10 stainless steel spines arranged in triple spiral patterns that form a stable tripod base. The set's components include salt and pepper shakers with hollow central spines for dispensing, and a mustard pot with a two-piece shell construction housing a spun stainless steel liner and a gold-plated spoon. The design's ergonomic considerations are evident in its practical dimensions, with salt and pepper units measuring 100mm x 100mm x 92mm and the mustard pot at 120mm x 120mm x 110mm. The polymer construction offers both durability against corrosive contents and the possibility of vibrant color applications, while the assembly method allows for efficient batch production. The design successfully combines functional requirements with sculptural aesthetics, creating a conversation piece that enhances both formal dinner parties and casual gatherings. The development process, which spanned from October 2010 to April 2011, involved extensive research with focus groups and careful material selection to ensure both visual sophistication and practical functionality, resulting in a product that serves as both a functional condiment dispenser and an artistic table sculpture.
