'A' Back Windsor Dining Chair'A' Back Windsor Dining Chair'A' Back Windsor Dining Chair is an innovative reinterpretation of the traditional Windsor chair design, crafted with meticulous attention to both historical craftsmanship and contemporary manufacturing techniques. This distinguished dining chair, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a sophisticated fusion of traditional joinery methods and modern production capabilities. The chair's distinctive 'A' shaped back, from which it derives its name, is created through a precise arrangement of spindles and legs that demonstrates exceptional structural engineering. Constructed entirely from solid hardwoods - specifically White Oak, Ash, and Poplar - the chair employs no metal components, staying true to traditional Windsor chair construction while introducing modern elements through CNC-carved seat technology. The design features a compound-angled structure where front legs pass through the seat to become king posts, while back legs extend to the steam-bent ash crest, creating a triangulated framework that optimally distributes compression and tension forces. The seat, CNC-carved from Poplar, features an oval-shaped dish that updates the traditional Windsor seat pan design. Standing at 950mm in height, with a width of 510mm and depth of 710mm, the chair maintains upright ergonomics suitable for dining purposes while offering visual sophistication through its spatial composition. The production methodology demonstrates remarkable efficiency, utilizing only six distinct part types to create fifteen total components per chair, making it suitable for mass production while maintaining the integrity of fine furniture craftsmanship. The finish options of either milk paint or Danish oil with wax honor the sustainable traditions of Windsor chairmaking, while the overall design successfully bridges historical furniture-making techniques with contemporary design sensibilities.
