Wafra Living Residential ComplexWafra Living Residential ComplexWafra Living Residential Complex is an innovative residential development located in Jabriya, Kuwait, encompassing 6,468 square meters of thoughtfully designed living space. This architectural masterpiece, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a paradigm shift in contemporary residential design through its unique approach to privacy, community integration, and environmental adaptation. The complex offers three distinct categories of rental apartments, differentiated by their finishes, facilities, and dimensions, creating a sophisticated hierarchy that enhances return on investment while maintaining a personal scale for residents. The design's most distinctive feature is its L-shaped configuration, which follows the street edges at its north and eastern boundaries, complemented by a high-rise block at the rear. The complex incorporates an innovative veil concept using Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) in a desert sand color, which serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, minimizing maintenance requirements and reducing heat gain through integrated insulation. Notable architectural elements include an elevated public square positioned six meters above ground level, creating a safe social gathering space that buffers street noise, multiple gardens, vertical open spaces, and communal facilities including swimming pools and a gymnasium. The design demonstrates exceptional consideration for cultural sensitivity through its careful treatment of privacy concerns, incorporating strategic facade openings and closures, while simultaneously promoting community interaction through thoughtfully planned common areas. The complex features innovative sustainable solutions, including the integration of natural light and efficient spatial planning, making it a significant contribution to contemporary Middle Eastern architecture.
